FAQ
Can't find the answer you're looking for? We've shared some of our most frequently asked questions to help you out!
Does the kit include a cellular modem?
No, the v2 kit follows a modular approach and does not include a modem by default. You can add a certified 5G module as a bundle during checkout or source your own compatible M.2 5G modem.
Which Single Board Computers (SBCs) and operating systems are supported?
The kit is natively designed for the Raspberry Pi 4 and Raspberry Pi 5 using the included rigid USB 3.0 bridge.
However, the HAT is not restricted to Raspberry Pi—it can be used with any Linux or Windows device (such as PCs, laptops, industrial computers, or third-party SBCs) simply by connecting the HAT to the host machine using a standard USB-A to USB-A 3.0 cable and the GPIO pins will be unavailable.
Can Sixfab SIM be used with the 5G module ?
No, Sixfab SIM is not compatible with 5G networks.
Which SIM Card does it support?
A SIM covering the frequency bands supported by the module can be used in the M.2 5G module product specifications. Ask your mobile carriers if it supports the module you are going to use.
Which antennas can be used with the kit?
In the hardware design guide provided by the module manufacturer of the module you are using, the supported features such as antenna connectors to be used, antenna impedance, frequency range, and gain are specified. Please make sure that the antenna you choose meets the requirements in the manual.
Can I purchase the 5G HAT alone?
No. The HAT is sold exclusively as part of the complete Development Kit to ensure you have all the necessary components for reliable operation (including the custom USB 3.0 bridge, enclosure, cooling system, and dedicated power supply).
If you require standalone HATs for mass deployment or volume orders over 50 units, please contact our Sales Team([email protected]) to discuss custom ordering options.
Which modules does it support?
If you are going to use a modem other than Quectel and Telit 5G modems, check the modem datasheet. Please see the section Compatible M.2 Modules inthe technical details page.
