What is the ALPON X4?

ALPON X4 is Sixfab's industrial edge IoT computer for telemetry, gateway, and protocol-aggregation workloads. It runs on a Raspberry Pi CM4 (Broadcom BCM2711 quad-core Cortex-A72 at 1.5 GHz) with up to 8 GB LPDDR4 RAM and up to 32 GB eMMC flash storage, plus always-online connectivity (1 Gbps + 100 Mbps Ethernet with optional PoE+, Wi-Fi 5 dual-band, LTE Cat 4 with eSIM, Bluetooth 5.0 / BLE, GNSS). A hardware TPM 2.0 provides a root of trust. The fanless aluminum enclosure operates from -20 °C to +60 °C at IP40 with MTBF over 13 years, and is managed centrally through ALPON Cloud. Built on Raspberry Pi.

Key features

Raspberry Pi CM4 host
Broadcom BCM2711 quad-core Cortex-A72 at 1.5 GHz with up to 8 GB LPDDR4 SDRAM and up to 32 GB eMMC flash storage. Native Raspberry Pi ecosystem, Debian-based ALPON X4 OS, and standard ARM64 containers.
Always-online connectivity
Dual Ethernet (1 Gbps + 100 Mbps, PoE+ optional on the gigabit port), LTE Cat 4 with eSIM (eUICC SGP.22), dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.0 / BLE, and GNSS / cellular geolocation. Automatic failover keeps the device reachable.
Hardware root of trust
Discrete Infineon SLB 9670 TPM 2.0 for secure boot, measured boot, and key storage. Combined with eSIM credentials and ALPON Cloud onboarding, every device is uniquely identifiable from first power-on.
Industrial form factor
Fanless aluminum enclosure, 111.16 × 99.9 × 33 mm at ~457 g, IP40. Operating range -20 °C to +60 °C, up to 95 % RH non-condensing, MTBF over 13 years at 25 °C. DIN rail and wall-mount kits available.
Flexible I/O and power
2× USB 2.0, 1× HDMI, a 6-pin GPIO header (I²C / SPI / UART / digital / analog selectable, plus 5 V output up to 1 A), 2 user buttons, and 1 user-programmable RGB LED. Three power inputs: 9-30 V DC screw terminal, USB-C PD 27 W, and optional PoE+ IEEE 802.3at.

How data flows on ALPON X4

Telemetry pipeline
Step 1
Connect
Sensors, meters, and field devices stream data in over Ethernet, USB, GPIO, I²C, SPI, or UART.
Step 2
Process on CM4
Cortex-A72 handles parsing, normalization, and protocol translation (Modbus, OPC-UA, MQTT, REST) inside containers.
Step 3
Aggregate & filter
Local rules thin, batch, or threshold the data so only what matters leaves the device.
Step 4
Forward
Events stream to ALPON Cloud or your backend over Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or LTE — with automatic path failover.
Why this matters

Logic runs on the edge. Field protocols stay local; only the events your application chooses to send leave the box — over Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or LTE with automatic failover. Production fleets stay reachable, auditable, and within the privacy envelope of the site.

Where ALPON X4 fits

IoT gateways & telemetry
Aggregate field sensors and meters, normalize the data, and ship events to ALPON Cloud or your backend over LTE, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.
Industrial monitoring & SCADA
Modbus and OPC-UA aggregation, PLC supervision, machine condition monitoring, and edge data brokering for factory and energy sites.
Smart city & infrastructure
Street furniture, lighting controllers, environmental sensing, traffic counters, EV-charger backhaul, and digital signage — managed remotely as one fleet.
Remote sites & cellular failover
Unmanned cabinets, well sites, pumping stations, agricultural sensors, and pop-up locations where LTE is primary and Ethernet/Wi-Fi back it up.
